You think it was disturbing in the FIRST volume? Oh boy.... wait till the next ones. Nightmare fuel. The S class little boy ghost is one of the most fucked up things I've ever read.

Very nice review! This is high on my list of new manga to check out. I just finished binging both Orochi and PTSD Radio so I'm in the mood for more darkness Smile

I second this. If you thought the first volume was terrifying, it's only going to escalate from here on out.

There's another manga that is thematically very similar to this, albeit unlicensed as of yet, Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai (Kaya-chan isn't scary). Whoever read and liked this one probably will like that one too. It's a toss-up which of them is scarier...

Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai is also good, and can be quite scary, but Dark gathering is far more disturbing. I supposed it's the difference between "That's really scary" and "That's terrifying and fucked up.". Kaya-chan wa Kowakunai would work as a half-length series quite well though.

Now I'm interested. Didn't expect this to be that scary.

It seems I was not up to date with Kaya-chan, so I hadn't read up to when her mother is introduced. Ahem..... holy shit, that's [expletive] terrifying. Yes, Dark Gatehring is more gory and brutal, but while not as brutal (since it involves a lot of small children), Kaya-chan is ramping up the horror. Goods stuff.
