HIDIVE was heavily marketing this show as it was airing, which could be a sign they're going to announce it for a dub at their industry panel at Anime Boston later. And with the second season, or second cour, either how you want to see it, the chances for a dub are more likely.

Great! Season one was pretty fun. I'd give it a 6.5/7 out of 10. I think people are expecting too much out of seasonal anime these days. I enjoyed it more than spy family and buddy daddies which also the same vibe in my opinion.

What? How is this dog shit more enjoyable than either of those? Also, we're not "expecting too much from seasonals", we just wanted proper pacing.

You are angry because someone else enjoyed a show you didn't like?

What a child.

Good news, though the first season never went beyond okayish in my opinion.

I didn't think Spy Classroom was anything special and it was bizarrely structured (going back in time after the first arc was finished), but there was something about it that kept me from dropping it. And of course after that cliffhanger in the finale, it was practically a legal requirement to get a second season.

As a fan of the light novels I was disappointed with how they chose to adapt the first season but as I like these characters I’ll probably give S2 a chance, hopefully they’ll adapt it better than the first season.

I was hoping Spy Room would get a 2nd season, given how the 1st season ended. And airing this July? NICE!!

The way they left the final episode of the first season gave a good hint that a second season was incoming.

I think this was a case of some questionable decisions made around the adaptation of decent (albeit not spectacular) source material. The LNs are actually decent, with the first definitely being the hardest to adapt due to the trick it plays on the reader. But they then lost all pace by having so many "before the nightmare mission" episodes. Plus I think it was the wrong time to break out for character side-stories, as keeping some of the characters as largely blank slates for a while is key to how the novels work.

I liked Season 1, so I'll be back for season 2. I wouldn't put it into Spy x Family territory (and haven't watched Buddy Daddies), but it was a good series and not as far off as I think many want to admit. I generally do not mind the off-beat storytelling method (the back in time, pre-mission stuff) in most anime that do it. Non-linear story telling is more interesting to me anyway when done well. It would have been a bigger drag perhaps if the show wasn't continuing, but that's not a concern now, so...

I continue to believe that Hidive's "less than stellar" service is a drag on a lot of shows. Loved the latest season of Is It Wrong, but I had to skip weeks because I dreaded having to deal with their slow and buggy site. It was the same with the old Funimation - indifferent to their existence, but hated having to use them for streaming anything. With Funi this led to me skipping a lot of stuff, and I find myself doing that with Hidive now too.
