This week's numbers are quite interesting. Switch sold 16,064 more units than last week, it's impressive for a console that's already 6 years old to sold that amount of hardware and also being the main console in general, especially since it's competing with next-gen hardware. For the first time in quite a long time there's a Xbox game on the Top 5 and being a pack-in game it also means that the Xbox is having is best hardware sales in quite a long time as well.
In terms of software not even the combined SKUs of Diablo IV can push Tears of the Kingdom out of the first place, I'm still amazed by Zelda's performance in Japan.
Now, we're just a few days way from Final Fantasy XVI's debut, I haven't played the demo personally, but I've seeing plenty of positive word of mouth, I still think XVI is going to perform incredible well internationally, not as big as TotK, but we'll see. But it's Japan the place where I'm not sure if XVI will do that well, the PS5 software sitution is pretty dire there, I think the highest debut for a PS5 game was for Elden Ring at 188,490, I think many are expecting FFXVI to debut at 500k. Don't know how much hype theres' for XVI in Japan but I recently saw that Square-Enix is recomending Japanese players to play the game in its original English version because there's no lip sync for the Japanese dub. That kind of makes crystal clear that this game was designed for English-speaking players in mind and it also makes me wonder how the lip sync will be dealt with for the Italian and Neutral Spanish dubs.
