REVIEW: Ōoku: The Inner Chambers

At times, the poor animation goes so far as to ruin the mood, particularly in any scene that involves physical intimacy. There was a notable lack of chemistry, despite powerful vocal performances, and in one case, I ended up laughing out loud as Arikoto and Iemitsu's bodies jerkily twitched back and forth as they kissed; they didn't look like two adults in love so much as two Barbie dolls having their faces pushed together to make them “kiss.” It's devastatingly unsexy, a huge mood-breaker, and can't be saved by even Mamoru Miyano's powerful vocal performance.

DEEN once again shows their C tier animation, which I suppose the distributor thought they could get away with given the rather deliberate nature of the story. Still, in a streaming environment where My Happy Marriage cracks the top 10 in a similar manner to Black Clover and Demon Slayer, it’s not likely getting a season 2, so enjoy the (very well developed, serious as a heart attack) story since this is likely all they’re going to make.

lol it ranked in top 10 and it was successful in Japan so having a full adaptation is more likely.
