Pretty confident of them, considering Disney Plus is one of those streaming services with so little content worth watching I had a hard time justifying even temporary subs at the old price point.
Gotta love how quickly these big corporations forgot that the only reason streaming ever took off in the first place was because it used to be more convenient than piracy. |

$19.99 for both hulu and Disney+ without ads is not a bad deal. Especially when disney+ has dolby atmos lite.

People will complain but it's only natural. With cable in a steady decline, these companies will rely more on streaming services to profit from their content.

They can get away with restricting password sharing or raising prices, but not both.
Especially with strikes stopping any new content. |

Well, at least D+ has lots of great shows like Willow, Runaways, and the Mysterious Benedict Socie- wait a minute.
It's not natural for giant companies to make consumers pay for the company's failures. But it is common. |

I was pretty surprised to hear that they were planning another price increase in less than a year. I got in on the annual price before the last price increase announcement and was already planning to drop it after that increase because of how much it's gone up since launch.
I don't think I've heard of any other service increasing their rate so much so quickly. It's just seems ridiculous.
Agreed; if you use both and didn't get the annual for D+ (I don't think hulu has that option?) |

Honestly, it's a pretty foolish choice. Though it makes sense considering their desperation after so many financial blunders over the past few years. Even if it's a terrible decision in the long-term, they need the short-term win to avoid financial disaster.
And it is a foolish choice. Netflix could get away with it because their service has that much value to it. Disney frankly doesn't have that. The awful decisions that have led to numerous box office flops is eating away at their brand. It's not going to be worth it for that many people to swallow a price hike and password sharing restrictions. Disney needs to focus on drawing people in and improving their products. Not squeezing what they still have for every last drop they can get before they slip away. |

Boy people sure are confident this will hurt them (people who I bet still have hulu/D+). Its too bad we have no VERY RECENT evidence of a streaming platform raising prices and cracking down on password sharing AND finding it to be financially successful......................oh wait.
Cry as much as you want but until the wider population (and yes that includes you dear reader) actually puts their money where their mouth is...this is the world we will live in now. Talk about boycotts as much as you want, just don't expect things to change when, after posting an angry comment on social media, you go back to watching 'Only Murders in the Building' on hulu. tl;dr: don't ask questions, just consume product, then get excited for next product. |

Not a good idea. It's clear a lot of these companies are having a difficult time understanding that things are in flux so instead of just waiting they're panicking and making dumb decisions. It's pathetic when you get down to it

People saying this is a bad move, Netflix’s profits went UP after restricting password sharing.
Licensing existing series and creating original ones costs an unimaginable amount, not including the running costs like building space, rental fees, employee costs, server costs, translation, app development, promotion, etc etc. With rising costs of like, everything, I’m not surprised, and not put off by the slight price hike/password sharing stop. |
