So, if Titan's continued release of Kamen Rider Kuuga (& apparently Atom the Beginning, too?) is any indication, the first two volumes will likely just re-use the same exact translation as TokyoPop's release, and then the final volume will likely utilize an automated translator & be really poor. I mean, one can hope that things won't be like that, but from all reports I can find Titan never actually fixed Kuuga's translation & Volume 3 was just as bad as what came before.

UPDATE #1: It was clarified to me that Speed Grapher is coming out from Titan Comics, not Titan Manga, so it's entirely possible that the release might be just fine, since the Comics branch does do good work, as seen with Sherlock, Assassin's Creed, & Eldo Yoshimizu's titles. However, the simple fact that Titan now has two different (& apparently completely separate) branches that both license & release manga is absolutely bizarre & confusing, especially since the Comics branch does good releases while the Manga branch does terrible releases.

UPDATE #2: Upon looking at the listings linked over at Amazon & Forbidden Planet, those both say that it's Titan Manga handling the release, not Titan Comics. In other words, it's essentially a coin flip as to whether this will actually be a good release or not.

As for the license itself, it's definitely not one I would have expected. Manga license rescues in & of themselves are extremely rare, so seeing Speed Grapher be one of them is especially odd. I'm not saying that it shouldn't have happened, especially since this one actually never got finished the first time around, but it's just a really random pick.

If they're going to finish anything from Tokyopop, I'd rather it be the rest of Gravitation EX.

It sucks as an adaptation and as its own product. The axed ending comes on top of that. The solid enough anime itself is obscure and its company is basically dead. I don´t get it.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is a passion project or was an add-on alongside a bigger license. As peculiar as this one seems to be from the customer POV, I'm all for license rescues.

This is super surprising and unexpected. I would love to see more rescues of series Tokyopop axed that are really unlikely to get picked up again (Immortal Rain, Beyond the Beyond, Gravitation Ex)

If there is one title i wish anyone would rescue it is the Familiar of Zero novels.

I have no idea why seven seas entertainment licensed but than cancelled it. You would think there would still be a demand for it as it is a classic and it helped inspire a lot of the modern iseaki stories that were first coming out back in the day.

Even as a limited edition set could work.

Oh well at least this one got it and i loved Speed Grapher back in the day when it aired and i still own a copy of the DVD set from funimation. (Good thing too as the prices have been increasing since it went out of print) I never knew it had a manga adaptation, i think il check it out.

To FINALLY get volume 3 is something I never thought I'd see. I really enjoyed the anime back in the day and bought the two volumes for the heck of it waiting on the third. On a side note: I'd love to see the cancelled Tokyopop series Moonphase finished, or better yet, a reprint, (damn censoring). The end of that anime is, well....poop...wouldn't mine seeing how it really ended.
