EDIT - it actually lasted over 4 hours.

Well it is a start but not just the resignation

They should be facing criminal charges for being complacent/accomplices to said abuse, knowing about it and not reporting it is already a big charge but who knows what else they did as well as other staff within the studio.

In regards to compensation. They still have not said what type of compensation it will be, but it better not be a tiny sum considering how much they profited over these past decades but regardless it will never be enough.

Hot take coming through that might get me CANCELLED: Sexual abuse is pretty cringe, yo. Don't do it!

Yep, I saw the breaking news coming out of this scandal on my smartphone via NHK World Japan & BBC News apps. Looks like there's going to be a lot of reckoning over this (I hope).

How will they continue as a talent agency? Johnny's damn name is all over it.

Also, it's pretty damn gross that all the male talent signed with the agency are figuratively branded with Johnny's name on it. Like cattle, used exploited and discarded.

Many of the people who read this site are not forty years old. The abuse went on for year after year and no one did a single thing to help any of the young men or women tortured by this man and his company.

There are no words for the grotesque criminality of an entire organization set up to allow men to sexually abuse young people and the government, coworkers, administration, family and media that turned a blind eye to it.

No one can ever be punished enough.

I hope this is just the start of more repercussions from this.

Johnny´s ironclad grip on their stars became known in the west when they blocked the Lost Judgment games from PCs for years due to the fear of mods and their stars are often only displayed as silhouettes in magazines and so on. They are known to blacklist people and smear journalists for positive or negative coverage so them letting Harvey Weinstein´s clone run amock is sadly unsurprising. Rest in piss. He also abused teens into his 80s if that still went on in the 2010s! Literally satan.

Exactly. His name is stamped all over every single thing in this company, including its talent. The “& Associates” part of the company’s name is disgusting now as well considering that other employees were abusing the underage talent as well…

Just an awful, awful situation all around.

Though this is a big case, it is, sadly, probably just the tip of the iceberg for the Japanese entertainment industry, as whispers and intimations about this kind of stuff have been circulating for decades. Here's hoping that this triggers a greater reckoning (as the Weinstein case did in the States), but given the way Japanese media and culture operate, I'm not going to hold my breath.

I'm hoping it could lead to a lot of whistleblowers in Japan risking their careers and their reputation to reveal the dark secret in Japan. I recall a Japanese reporter in 2017 broke her silence about her rape. So there are a lot of dark secret that I hope may come out in Japanese media. Hopefully, a Japanese #MeToo-styled movement that hopefully could be the result of Johnny's sex abuse scandal.

Kitagawa was a monster and his family losing control of his agency is the greatest punishment that can be suffered for his legacy (though his niece needs to completely leave, just getting a new president isn't enough). I don't care if this company bankrupts itself making amends, it needs to be made into an example. I hope he's rotting in hell, despairing at his entire legacy being reduced to ash.

It's sad, but that's a whole different story from the abuse that went on, not much you can do about that.

Also, the US didn't get uncut Yu-Gi-Oh DM because of Johnny's garbage policies.

I thought Johnny's was an all-male talent agency.

There have been other social movements recently that are slowly gaining steam so here's hoping there's a ripple effect.
