I really was surprised to see the preview for Shoegaze when it aired last Saturday, but then was even more surprised to see the date. I was expecting both seasons to be the standard 6 episodes, but nope. Only 3 each.
Because of that, my brain started to come up with a theory that perhaps both seasons are connected together somehow. spoiler[Like, the finale for Grunge will ultimately end with Haruko being sent into the world of Shoegaze, and she has to continue her hunt for Atomsk again. Given what happened at the end of Alternative and that Shoegaze takes place a decade after Alternative, I think it's plausible that Grunge is somehow on Mars or some different form of Earth created by the events of Alternative (I don't think they actually confirmed that the series is taking place on our Earth, but I might not have heard things correctly either), and all of Haruko's actions right now is to get back to the original reality.] That kind of wacky twist wouldn't surprise me, given the world of FLCL, but I know it's probably a long shot anyway. Still, it's just something that started to spark in my head to have some explanation as to why each season is only 3 episodes long. Besides they just want it to be that length, I mean. |

Now all that's left is that crypto anime by Fanworks. We don't know when exactly that is coming. Not like I actually care though.
