Really committed to mirroring exactly what the Japanese broadcast does. Kinda silly this time, but glad to know it finally starts tomorrow

I know a few people predicted Emi Lo for the lead and I'm pretty pleased they were chosen. Emi seems well-suited to the role and is such a versatile actor when it comes to matching a voice to character archetypes but keeping it grounded enough that it doesn't stray too far into stereotype (think Lucy in Cyberpunk, Sariphi in Sacrificial Princess, etc...). I think they'll do MaoMao justice!

While I don't think seeking out a mostly Asian-American cast for the leads is super surprising for a show with a more historically-inspired setting given Shawn Gann's directing history (see Requiem of the Rose King's mostly LGBTA cast), especially given the breadth of talent available - I will say Kaiji Tang is a real surprise to me. I think the last CR in-house dubs he worked on were Megalobox Nomad (a reprisal) and Revenger (a smaller role that utilized Mandarin iirc).

This is also Emi's 3rd or 4th Aoi Yuki role, so it definitely fits in that sense.

I wonder if they'll fit in former Funi regulars who are now LA like Suzie Yeung, Stephen Fu, and Howard Wang?
