Long overdue, but pretty cool! I’ll have to read it.

WDYM this one-shot wasn't available in english already? VizMedia never licensed the Oda's one-shot collection 'Wanted' before? I already asumed it got licensed in english long time ago...

Viz has been very stingy about releasing other works by super-popular mangaka, at least on the Shueisha side of things (Shogakukan can still essentially tell Viz what to release, at point) for the past 10-15 years, and only recently has started going back into that well with releases of Akira Toriyama's Manga Theater or Tatsuya Endo's pre-Spy x Family manga (Tista & Blade of the Moon Princess).

They used to do it more often during the 00s (WaqWaq, Zombie.Powder, etc.), but likely got burned on a bunch of them not doing well at the time. I mean, Viz would rather NOT release anything else by Yoshihiro Togashi while waiting for the next volume of Hunter x Hunter to come out, instead of actually releasing Level E & Ten de Showaru Cupid in English.

Is...Is this really that surprising? One Piece wasnt super popular in the west until the last 5-10 years; yes it always had its fan, but it wasnt still super main stream just yet. Let alone a one shot manga that pre-dates it, they had no reason to licence it or translate it. Hell, even until the anime adaptations came out, even most OP fans hadnt even read it.

I now understand better the hate towards VizMedia. I don't know what I was expecting but this wasn't it.

Netflix's subtitles spell Cyrano's name as "Shirano" which gave me the false impression (before he showed up onscreen) that he would be a Japanese-inspired character.

When you say The West is Europe too or just the US? Because I may have some news for you.
