So can we confidently say this is a series that can fall in the genre of "I can't believe its not a hentai"?

As expected from Seven Arcs, the animation isn't great and so far it's really tame compared to other ecchi titles, but I'm enjoying it for what it is. It's not trying to be profound, it's a fetish series Takahiro lovingly dedicated to us Esdeath simps, and I joyously accept the gift. None of the girls can compare to her right now, but perfection can't be common, so it's ok, and there's a lot of potential. I'm eagerly waiting for more intense "rewards", and I'm praying it delivers on the incest. Go all in, Takahiro-san!

Probably why HiDive got it. Still, it seems fun for what it is.

I like how you can see a tiny Shushu in episode 2 before the reveal when Yuuki's all "huh was someone here?" near the left edge of the frame.

I'm enjoying the adaptation and I hope I continue to do so.

In the source material, as "Chained Soldier" was as uninterested in developing the gender power dynamics premise as was the infamous Infinite Stratos, I dropped it just as quickly. But from what I did hang around long enough to read, no not even close. Just some PG-13 type petting with the haremettes and no more skin than you would often see in a bunch of 80s and 90s anime that wasn't even considered ecchi or fanservicey (before the Japanese censors tightened up on what was allowed to be shown on network TV).

Another thing (this time from the review): I don't recall the source material treating his sister too be presumed dead: I thought the protag was still looking for her? Ah, but it was awhile ago and I didn't read much of it so I may be wrong.

Ah yes, a classic cultured Battle Fantasy Harem show with an all-star cast. I love it!

Not at all. I was expecting to see a comment of this type but to get it out of the way in the first post was a relief.

The giant woman/small guy dynamic in ecchi: He falls into her cleavage.
In hentai: The guys shoves his hand into the woman's [censored]. And whatever you're thinking, that's not it.

This series isn't all that different in what it depicts from Heaven's Lost Property or To Luv Ru... despite neither of those series having nudity.

The sexual politics of the series looms larger in my mind than the BDSM content because the BDSM is also part of it.... though instead of femdom inversion, it would seem to be reaffirming natural roles in this world. Women have the power, men grin and bear it.
You either learn to enjoy it or you'll just live in powerless misery.

In what universe does To Luv Ru not have nudity?

thats not happening though!

im afraid the days where sibling series like koi kaze , cress celestial legend & angel scantuary are far in the past and like it or not its due to oreimo!

Due to the massive negativity that oreimo received via Its ending, the odds of this or any other series going full blown incest with two blood related siblings are slim to none cause all manga and light novels are completely bat shit afraid to attempt it!

the most these authors will do is to have them as cousins and have the setting in a fantasy world ala lugh tu arthade & dia vikone from worlds greatest assasain gets reincarnated as an aristocrat!

and thats the best case scenario!

the worst case is go the cop out route and have the feelings one sided that it goes nowhere ala to love ru, infinite stratos, banished from the hero's party & SAO Fairy Dance Arc! the other worse case is have said siblings not blood related ala eromanga sensei & spoiler[ the irregular at magic high school yotsuba successor arc and master clan arc where they made tatsuya & miyuki not blodd related as a mean for them to get engaged ]

though from these eps alone, i have a feeling they will be making yuuki's sister into a yandere ala Claire from Eminence in Shadow!

after all, if their going down the ecchi harem route, having a tsundere ( whose clearly the green hair girl ) & a yandere is pretty much the standard now!

well to be frank, people did liked IS! especially harem fans who gre up watching tenchi muyo! and would rather have their MCs like ichika over school days makoto ito whose by far the worst harem MC ever!

No nudity in To Love Ru? I own the dubbed collection on Blu-ray. It would easily give High School DxD a run for its money. Nothing but uncensored nipples and butts for miles in every episode, lol. Now with Heaven's Lost Property, all the nudity was censored with those stupid faces, lol.

sadly people have long stopped connecting high school dxd in the same levels as to love ru and sora no otoshimoto after the source materials abandoned the fanservice harem aspect and went more into the Shonen harem aspect. especially after its sequel series shin high school dxd

I'm enjoying the show myself but seems like a lot of source readers are unsatisfied with the adaption in terms both content and direction (and how despite being uncensored it still ends up being censored). Especially in comparison to the Gushing Over Magical girls anime.

I enjoy the manga, but so far the anime has been...fine, I guess?

I can't quite put my finger on why exactly but the TV series hasn't clicked with me quite the same way. Certainly not lack of fanservice.

The pacing has felt off for one thing. Some subplots and character introductions have been rushed. Or, like with episode 4, it cuts off just before the best part. But not in a good cliffhanger way. It just sort of ended like they ran out of time.

The girls have also felt meaner and the MC wimpier than in the manga. Maybe just my perception, but that has definitely bugged me.

I'll keep watching with fingers crossed that it improves as we get more into the bigger overall story but so far it's been about a B/B- rating for me.

I said To Luv Ru, not To Luv Ru Darkness. That's two different series as the original one is shounen and the later Darkness series is seinen. The first series was about how close you could get to actually showing anything before the editor brought down the censor bar.
The descriptions on this site: "Objectionable content: Significant. Significant. Intense. Intense." I don't recall the main 26 episode run as being that much different than the WSJ manga that it's based upon.

In Heaven's Lost Property, there was never any nudity in the manga as it all got pre censored by whatever was handy.

It's just that the way this show does fanservice is a bit... off. Like, the scene this episode where Himari shows her breasts as part of the reward. Her nipples are so white for some reason it's actually a bit hard to see.

And what's with all the shiny filters? There is so much of them you'd swear they are trying to use them to cover the naughty bits, except they don't cover anything, they just get in the way and make things less clear. It's like this is the semi-censored version and they forgot to tell us that the fully uncensored version is BD-only.

EDIT: And literally in the next episode, James opens his review by pointing out this exact same thing. Thanks for the help.
