Season 3 could potentially be even bigger assuming enthusiasm is still high by then.

It's a very popular show about two wizards in love who go through a messy breakup over a difference in political opinion. Their respective friend groups get into a lot of drama about it.

Mine certainly isn't, although I recognize that I'm in the minority. I understand that JJK is popular, but I'm surprised that it set a record like this.

S1 was great, the movie was great, Hidden Inventory was decent (I feel like the backstory would have benefited from another 1 - 2 episodes though), and then Shibuya Arc started strong before steadily falling into a sharp decline. The animation quality dropped about halfway through the season, we wasted time with multiple pointless fights and character deaths that made me feel nothing, the story (somehow) felt like it was simultaneously rushing things AND dragging its feet, the relevance of the various conflicts felt questionable until the last 2 episodes, and the finale lacked closure. I hope to find enjoyment with S3, and maybe fall back in love with Jujutsu Kaisen, but I was told that I won't like S3 if I didn't like S2. I'm hoping that's not true, but we shall see.

I dunno, JJK never did much for me. I haven't seen S2 yet though. Been noticing more and more that I just don't keep up with what modern anime fans seem to want.

Still, congrats to the series. It does have my respect.

I am sure that Tommy Tallarico´s mother is very proud of this.

I won´t deny that the show is a capital H hit but Guinness World Records is a business organization and the awards are totally bogus. Winning one means nothing.

Among all the really popular anime of recent years, this is the one that I've found the most baffling to become such an extreme mega-huge hit. Nothing about it really stands out to me as particularly unique. Stuff like Blue Exorcist, Noragami, and Twin Star Exorcists seemed to do the same sort of thing, but with a much stronger hook IMO. (Or even the highly underappreciated favorite of mine, Tokyo Ravens.) Different strokes, I guess...

Whoaaaa, another Tokyo Ravens fan. I didn't know they existed.

I only ever did JJK as manga, but I fell off when I got tired of reading all the explanations for everyone's powers.

My only explanation is that the manga has to be really good, like, better art, tempo, "feel", cliffhangers, etc.

That, or social media/anime fandom it's just so mainstream now that anything with some hook can become huge.

There is no other explanation.

I assume there’s a story behind this oddly specific reference?

Preferably one that doesn’t involve scamming people out of money for a bullshit console or scoring a widely popular game with a low absurd score or the inverse.

Nope. KnY doesn't have a ~3ft tall printed version of it's first few chapters. AoT does, making it physically the largest comic book ever. It was linked in the article right next to that statement.

A couple years ago a youtuber noticed just how often Tommy Tallarico bragged about his 7 World Records, only to do a deep dive and find that only 4 of them exist and the other 3 he shows off are literally just the same record in another frame. Along with a lot about his rampant lying and attention grabbing. The "His mother is very proud" quote came from Tommy himself when talking about his records, but is basically a back handed compliment now Laughing
