Is it really called RESERVoir because of that?

I had to read this book four times. Four times. I re-read the one before it too, because I did not see that coming at all. Im waiting on 17.

I had to ask my sister to explain this one to me because I got so confused the first time.

This is the way I understood what happened. If anyone thinks I'm wrong, please feel free to correct me:
spoiler[Contrary to what we've thought, the actual Syaoran has never been with the group at all, and it's always been the clone, who had been infused with half of Syaoran's soul. That condition, however, was never intended to be permanent and started to deteriorate, resulting in the bipolar behavior we saw. When things went seriously wrong, Fai - who was the only one in the group with a snowball's chance of rectifying the situation and getting that half of Syaoran's soul back (and had known all along what was going on and probably deliberately separated Syaoran and himself from the others when zero hour arrived) - jumped in in spite of knowing full well that he wasn't likely to succeed. Fai lost his gamble, the real Syaoran didn't get to them in time to prevent what happened to Fai, and Fai is now royally messed up. Stay tuned for the next volume, where Kurogane presumably does something equally angsty to save Fai, with more ensuing Happy Happy Joy Joy Very Happy .]

Seriously though, I have to say I disagree with the review. I thought it was beautiful, heartbreaking, and the best volume of Tsubasa so far.

I agree with the review. I found it confusing as well, and I had to go re-read it, but if CLAMP can make me cry everytime I look at earlier pics of Fai now...well, then I think they've done their job.

Kelly, that sounds spot on. I didn't think it was all that confusing and I do like CLAMP's spin with spoiler[we've been cheering on the EVIL twin the whole time].

Heh. Think it's confusing now? Wait until you read the latest xxxHOLiC, in which things get even more complicated.

Oh God, you're right about Fai though. spoiler[Between Mokona bawling it's eyes out begging Yuko to save him and the raw emotion of Kurogane's grief-stricken, morally outraged diatribe at the clone for the way it "repaid" Fai for what he tried to do...wow.] If this keeps up even one more episode, which of course it has to, Subaru's title as King of Angst is in serious danger. And we don't even know what happened to Fai in Celes to screw him up so badly yet!

Yes, this volume is confusing. But CLAMP have a tendency to throw alot out there all at once, and from this point on there is only more to be dumped upon the readers.

I really enjoy this arc of the manga, because this is where the real action begins in the story, whereas many of the earlier volumes really felt like alot of stagnation. This manga could have been much shorter IMO, but it's going to be almost thirty volumes in the end. I think CLAMP have a bit of trouble in telling longer stories in general though. I tend to prefer their shorter series.

I've only read the first 4 chapters (I like to take it slow) and so far it's great.
The one thing that did bother me is that the big reveal about spoiler[the relationship between the two Syaorans] came out of nowhere. Plot-wise, there didn't seem to be any reason to divulge that info at that time. It would've made more sense for us to find out when spoiler[Syaoran finds out instead of Fei Wang having his own little monologue.]

Also, I kinda new spoiler[Fay loses his eye] because of pictures on various sites, but I never would've expected it to be spoiler[Syaoran himself who ripped it right out...whoa.]
I really can't wait for the next volumes. It's getting so good!

For anyone who keeps up with the Japanese releases, how much longer do you think the series will go on. Does the plot seem to have a definite endpoint in mind (however far that may be)?

I don't think so. There was some indication that something was missing in Syaoran that was considered to be the good one, for example this disscusion between Touya and Yukito.

Manga probably end soon, now in manga r!Syaoran, Fay, Kurogane managed to get to Clow country, so it probably won't last too long.

Actually, I thought that was a good move. spoiler[It kept the fact that this is all Fei Wang's fault at the forefront of our minds. Remember, the whole incident was actually a magical battle between Fai and Fei Wang for half of Syaoran's soul - although such was never stated outright. Fai would have known that whoever separated Syaoran's soul was a magician of the highest order, his counterspell probably wouldn't work (although he certainly gave it his all because he did really love the clone - or rather the part of the clone which was the true Syaoran - at that point in spite of knowing what it was), and the penalty for failure would almost definitely be steep - which was why he wouldn't have wanted Sakura and Kurogane around when everything hit the fan. What he wouldn't necessarily have known was that it was specifically Fei Wang who he was up against, and perhaps not that it was the clone and not the original spellcasting troublemaker who he had to worry about. At least that's the way I read the subtext of the situation.]

spoiler[And therein lies a huge question - how the real Syaoran and Fai are going to be able to look at eachother again in the aftermath of what has happened. That's going to be something to see play out.]

I didn't mean that the explanation made no sense (I'm sure they've been hinting at it for a while), but I meant the way they chose to reveal it seemed a bit random. But what Kelly said makes sense. If they didn't reveal it at that time, the rest of the scene would've been more confusing.

Yea, that does sound like it's very close to the end. We already got Kurogane's backstory, and I think I've seen you (Aylinn) mention a Fay arc, so the main party is pretty much covered in terms of backstory, right?

Not exactly
spoiler[Fay tried to give back c!Syaoran the soul because he liked him. In spite of having known from the very beginning that Syaoran, who was travelling with him, was a clone. It was not a magical battle between him and Fei Wang.
What abut your theory that Fay doesn't know about existence of Fei Wang.... I suppose you will be surprised ]
