Yen Press's English language release continues with the “Tsumihoroboshi-hen,” or “Atonement Arc,” the “Answer Arc” paired to the previous two volumes. Illustrator Karin Suzuragi will be reprising her work on the series, so if you have become hooked on this particular, sequential art vision of the gruesome mysteries of Hinamizawa, a new fix—if not all the answers you seek—will be forthcoming right quick.

I don't get this. They're releasing Tsumihoroboshi-hen next? All the pre-order info I've read on the next volume points to Watanagashi-hen.

Then Yen Press website itself says they're releasing Watanagashi-hen/the Cotton Drifting arc next.

Wow this volume was really creepy. Paranoia is contagious in Hinamizawa.

Probably because the anime and the manga just run in a different order?

Another great, well-deserved review for this manga. Casey really nailed what questions that should be asked--although I already know the answers to them, of course! There are plenty of other overlooked questions just from this story arc as well. Although I've seen the anime a couple times already, I know reading this manga will provide a different enough angle to give a new experience with the story. The artist really knows what she's doing in adapting this story to manga format, in fact I'd call it masterfully done, providing more horrific impact and empathy with the characters than the anime even. I don't know if Funimation will ever license the second anime series, but if Yen Press keeps rolling out the volumes I'll at least have the whole story in manga format in the future.

So far I'm liking the manga version better than the anime: the storytelling seems much tighter and the sense of mystery and paranoia is much more pervasive. I actually liked the art too, mostly for its simplicity; one of my biggest manga peeves is sometimes the art is so detailed and the panels so cluttered that I can't figure out what's going on, which was never a problem in HIGURASHI.

Nah, that was a just a tease at the end for this arc's "Answer". Watanagashi-hen(Cotton Drifting Arc) is next.

(Cant say the same for the movies, since Tsumihorobishi-hen(Atonement Arc) is what the second live action movie will be based on)

*EDIT Also, its a sewing needle in ohagi, not a razor blade in a rice cake Anime smile + sweatdrop

The game for Onikakushi-hen was also recently fully translated, and 07th expansion has a free download, so it's available legitimately.

This is the type of manga that scares the heck out of me with a good amount of shocks, creepy dialouge, and an art style that isn't extremely groundbreaking, but works will enough to provide the chills you need. I'm picking up this volume this weekend. Man, I've been a long time for it.

Yes Watanagashi-hen is next. I believe the confusion is that the tease shows the next arc that Karin Suzuragi illustrates. Watanagashi-hen has a different artist, Yutori Hojo. It was simply a preview of Suzuragi's next work.

I watched the first couple volumes of the anime and really enjoyed it, I'm just waiting on the boxset Funi! But I also think the manga version is better. I think what sold me was the end where spoiler[Keiichi called Ooishi-san and was coughing and coughing when actually he was clawing out his own throat the whole time! Shocked ] What a disturbingly great scene!

That's probably from the original Japanese that was no longer appropriate in the English. Vols 2 of Onikakushi-hen, Watanagashi-hen, and Tatarigoroshi were released simultaneously; Vol 1 of Tsumihoroboshi was released six months later, and vol 1 of Meakashi-hen even later. A moderate publishing schedule would have Tsumihoroboshi-hen starting serialization shortly after those first three finished.

Umineko no Naku Koro ni episode 1 Legend of the golden witch is also available for free in english in as legal form as possible for fan translation (permission from Ryuukishi07). Umineko has been translated up to episode 3 and episode 4 translation is underway.

To play other than episode 1 you will have buy the game, which is highly recommended considering that by buying episode 4, which includes all the games released you will get 50+ hours of entertainment.
