It's also written as Nyaruko on the official Twitter account.

I guess you can really make a mindless moe show out of anything these days.

The story centers around Nyarlathotep, a formless Cthulhu deity who can take on the shape of anyone it wishes, but particularly the shape of a seemingly ordinary silver-haired girl. Mahiro Yasaka is a normal high school student who is chased by aliens one night, until "Nyaruko" saves him.

What did I just read.....?

I am glad to see this news. I watched the OVA little while back and liked most of jokes. Sure some of them fail, yet some are totally hilarious. Loved the simple animation too.

I saw the OVA as well... and I rather liked it, actually. This anime's on my "List of shows to buy if they're ever licensed".

...

I do happen to prefer "Nyarlko" as the translated name, since it actually flows with the original name of the being a little better... It may or may not be a perfect romanization, but hey, translation is partially art anyway.

*Sigh* Indeed.

Just ONCE this year, I'd like there to be an interesting premise like this not spoiled by "Oh, and xxx [turns into/is/becomes trapped in the body of] a seemingly prepubescent, just-barely unique moe moe girl and runs into Joe Everyman high school student." God. Dammit.

The OVA was a fun little show. But I guess the TV version will be pretty different, since for one thing, it won't be in that same simplified, chibified style the OVA was I presume. Though I wonder if they'll keep the same "high-tension, chaotic comedy" haphazard structure.
