Well, this is the first time I agree with one of Carl's reviews. I only liked one episode out of the last 7, and it's the one where Kodaka goes to Sena's house. And I did like the art, too.

If the series looks a little cheaper than before, that's probably because there's less plot and amusement to distract from its flaws. There's more time to notice how the excellent character designs actually look pretty generic at mid- to long-distance

This is one of my main problems with show and AIC (I forget which one). The animation and character art degrades rather terribly as the show went on. I know it's hard trying to keep as close as possible to Buriki's artwork all the time, but it's really noticeable in the show say compared to Denpa Onna.

Other than that...it was a fun, amusing show even though nothing happened like in the novels - it's a pretty close adapation, too, which is nice.

It really did leave you wanting in the end. I loved the show, but I really really wanted to throw the remote through the tv at the end.

I don't know, I noticed more off-modelness/awkward character designs late in Denpa Onna than in Haganai.

It has a "non ending" since its a massive series in Japan and its a given it'll be given a sequel.

Well, the novels are massively huge sellers. The anime is moderately good seller. Enough that its likely to get a sequel, but its not an insanely huge hit. It sold less than half of what OreImo sold, and several other fall shows are outselling it. The first volume didn't break 10k in its first week.

The show covered roughly three of the novels (episode 11 was the end of volume 3, episode 12 was partially the first chapter of volume 4 and apparently partially a side story from something else) and volume 7 came out shortly before the anime started. So they have plenty of material for a second season.

Fair enough that Rika is listed as a detraction; but I think Maria deserves to be there before anybody else. It's like they took Fuko from Clannad and made her into a nun, and Fuko drives me crazy.

Well yeah, the anime sales were a disappointment (I expected OreImo numbers), but what I mean is that the series was quite big when they were making the anime, so they set up the ending in a way that they could do a sequel without issue due to that popularity. It still ended up selling like 12k for the first volume, so it should average like 10k a volume.. easily enough for another season.

So did I. I can understand why OreImo would resonate with the typical anime BD buyer more, but I expected the massive pre-existing fanbase from the novels to at least mostly compensate for that.

Yes, we will very likely get a second season and its certainly one of the top sellers of the season, I don't disagree with that. But calling it a "massive series", if you're referring to the anime sales, just seems like a huge stretch.

I was going to start this soon, but I think I will wait for the blurays since censorship just annoys me. I think I would pick it up if I could find it cheap. Also I'm shocked the Ore Imo blurays did so well in Japan, and yet we only had the option for a dvd. Hopefully both series get sequels.

Sena's streaking across her mansion, perhaps?

Did the Hulu stream censor it? Because I'm pretty certain there was nothing resembling censorship in the TV broadcast version.

It was also censored there, but I'm not sure if it's the type of thing to be removed on home video. We'll have to wait and see, because the rest of the show lacks nipples.
