It's kind of ridiculous how the Kyoto arc has taken up more than half of the manga though. I'm glad it just finished in Japan. It'll take up to volume 9, but at least it wrapped up the tensions in Rin's relationships.

The Kyoto arc was indeed a bit long imo and taken up too many chapters/volumes. However, at the same time, it was quite interesting and takes a different setting than the previous arcs.

Anyways, great review. Looking forward to a season 2 of this series in the future tbh.

I enjoyed the anime, so I picked up volume 6 from the library because that seemed to be where the anime diverged from the manga's plotline.

Boy, are things different! The manga has more details about the characters and their families, especially Bon and Shima. The plot is very different from where the anime went, and things are heating up fast.

I've already put volume 7 on hold and am thinking about going back to volume 5, too (going back further might be rerun territory for those who've seen the anime-but if there are special features or authors notes, I might pick them up).

I'm glad that another female manga-ka struck gold with a popular shonen title!
