Kind of a spoiler pic.

New character unveiled on the official site named "Julius Kingsley". Hmm.

Not exactly sure how I feel although I am excited to watch this. I thought the first film was okay so I do have some high expectations!

Interesting. The action sequences are still pretty nice. Glad they're making them more of a focus for the second episode, since the first battles were a little too short. I guess it's good to see there's more of a team/squad approach too, albeit a rather dysfunctional one.

I should also mention for the benefit of the readers that there are cleaner versions of the preview floating around, with less artifacts and blurring (both of which especially distort the 3DCG shading and reduce overall quality, since the actual blu-ray discs look about five to ten times better than anything on Youtube).

Unrelated, but maybe the plot summary in the news article needs to be updated, since the one provided includes a couple of misunderstandings when compared to the content of the product. For one thing, E.U. does not stand for "Euro Universe" in neither the Japanese speech nor the official English subs on the Akito discs.

For another, the Akito OVA/film series so far takes place right after the first season ended, not near the beginning of the story. There are indications that the events of season one have already concluded.

I suppose these sorts of details are effectively nitpicking, but hey...confusion isn't a good thing.

Wow I'm surprised they added him to the website... That was the shocker of the episode.

I know this is too far down the road to start speculating, but I'm curious if when Funimation dubs this if they'll get Johnny Young Bosch to voice this "Julius Kingsley" character. He does do some stuff for Funimation now and then. I doubt they'll get Yuri Lowenthal or Kate Higgins back for Suzaku or C.C. though.

Anyways, I'm betting were probably not going to get this here in the US for at least another 18 months.

Welp....I've read a fair few fanfictions where Lelouch ends up still in the royal family/Britannia and they've all raised the same question - wouldn't he look pretty dapper in those clothes. Here we see that once again his fashion sense knows no bounds xD

I'm not gonna lie, I was bored of the OVA's before but if they somehow jig it so that Charles used Lelouch as a strategist at some point when he'd lost his memories...well then I might just continue watching hahaha.

With that said I'll be miffed if it's just someone who looks coincidentally similar to Lelouch D:

Either way I'm actually hoping for a little more political intrigue in the OVA's - it was that which make CG stand out IMO rather than the mech fight scenes (which I often skipped through). Especially since the EU is the prime target for a political mire in the CG universe, since we know little about it yet it's one of the few big powers in the series.

You are correct that Johnny Young Bosch occasionally does roles in FUNimation dubs (ie. 2003 Fullmetal Alchemist, Eureka Seven AO). If they cannot get him, a likely possibility for FUNimation would be Micah Solusod.

If you've noticed, both of them have similar voices. In fact, when Soul Eater first came out, many fans initially thought Soul Eater Evans was voiced by Johnny Young Bosch. Also, Micah replaced Johnny's role in the Fafner movie and plays the son of Johnny's character in Eureka Seven AO.

In regards to Yuri Lowenthal and Kate Higgins, the chances of them reprising their roles are much lower. However, anything can happen. For example, Michelle Ruff and Richard Epcar were in FUNimation's Lupin the Third The Woman Called Fujiko Mine. Stephanie Sheh appeared in Strike Witches and Eden of the East while Mary Elizabeth McGlynn made a cameo in FMA Brotherhood.

well if they want to apease the fanbase i am sure their going to use the cast from the original series.

Also the odds of Lowenthal as suzaku in Akito the Exiled is actually more of a possibility than everyone thinks. if Funi was able to get him in the Hellsing Ultimate OVAs , its possible here. Though getting Higgins to reprise her role might be tricky if not impossible. and if that is the case , i could easily funi using Luci Christian or Steaphnie Young as the new CC

I know FUNimation currently holds licensing rights for Hellsing, but my only question is what role FUNimation played in the dubbing process.

With C.C., there are many replacements I can think of that could fit the role. In my opinion, someone like Alexis Tipton could possibly do the role well. She did the voice of Inori in Guilty Crown (which by the way was mostly written by the same people who wrote on Code Geass). Inori is similar to C.C. in that they are both quiet, mysterious girls who have mystical powers.

Except for the fact that C.C. actually has a personality and is more snarky than truly quiet. Laughing

And unlike Inori it doesn't consist of wanting to be used as a weapon by the protagonist. That makes them very different roles for an actor or actress to play, though I imagine a good one can adapt to either situation just fine.

Then again, there are also many difference between the series you mentioned (Yoshino wrote most of Guilty Crown but only 3 episodes of Code Geass, and thankfully isn't present in this new show at all).

You make a good point. Just throwing ideas and speculation out there.

Also, Guilty Crown's Yoshino did in fact just write for three episodes for Code Geass, but the assistant writer for Guilty Crown is Ichiro Okouchi, who was the lead writer for Code Geass.

which is why my theories could have some fruit if they arent able to get Higgins to reprise her role. Though Nico Robin is a lot more mysterious and hard to figure out than Inori which i feel was proabaly the reason why Funi give that role to Young , and seeing how she voiced as Clare ( Claymore ) who from the beginning have no human emotions at times , it would be a good fit as CC since she never shows any traces of human emotions either.
