I think I saw a similar news relating to this on CR a few days ago. Kinda looking forward to it since I do like cyberpunk theme series.

...“young creators who have transcended the boundaries of genre.” The short movies will have the same ambience to them as the main Ghost in the Shell Arise anime itself.

...do we know what this really means yet?

To have the same "ambiance" as Arise they can't stray too far from it, which leads me to believe that getting people who have "transcended the boundaries of the genre" is a detriment. Why get someone whom you tout as being someone who colors "outside the lines" only to have him "color inside the lines"?

If only they'd revert to the GitS:SAC artstyle. Arise's is a nightmare that never ends, a horrible union of GitS and K-On!

Oh boy, somebody behind a series that liberally borrowed from GITS gets to work om expanding the lore of this new direction of the franchise. Somehow, that just doesn't seem right.

"Liberally borrow from GITS" is a Production I.G mantra… Razz

The real question for me is how muddily-dark the shorts will be and how bad a shaft the female victims will get. Unless that was all Gurobuchi's doing… spoiler[(And before anyone gets bent out of shape, I'm a fan of his work and always refer to him by that (with good reason), but he seems to have as much a penchant making strong female characters as he does putting others through the gruesome wringer…)]

I wonder what take they'll do in these shorts, will they flashing back to the original Ghost in the Shell anime movie or anime? Or they'll go in a new direction.
