2018? Seriously? Are CG movies usually in production for that long?

This seems like a rather strange book to acquire. Is there anything special about it? It looks like any other early grade school Scholastic-ish book.

I think it's normal. Looking at Disney and Pixar films, they tend to take 3 to 4 years after the initial announcement, but they've often either been in development hell or are ideas passed over the years. Another example, an upcoming Pixar film about Día de los Muertos, will probably be released in 2016 after its 2012 announcement. And this is Pixar/Disney, who have plenty of resources. If we look at a hideous film like The Nut Job, we knew who was writing the screenplay in 2011 for its early 2014 release.

This film's rights have just been acquired, so I'd say it's not out of the ordinary.

This is an interesting title. But yeah, 2018 is a long way away. I'll be looking forward to seeing this. But in the meantime I should look up some info on the book.

Like most posters here I'm also stunned at that release year.Well just means they'll try to do their best on the movie (hopefully).
