I'm not really surprised by these list, and I knew Yo-kai Watch and Pokemon would really top the list for 2014.

Awesome that Nintendo has completely dominated the entire Top 10. 2014 seemed to be an excellent year for the 3DS.

And a lot of these were released at the tail end of the year too, meaning they caught up to and surpassed a lot of games that got a head start.

Half of the Top 10 are by 2 franchises (3 Yokai Watch and 2 Super Smash Bros).

Would be fun to see what the sales would look like if Yokai Watch 2 and ORAS released on the same day since they are in the top 2.

Damn, Japan single-handedly keeps Nintendo in business. I'd like to read a big list, to see if the Xbox even makes a blip on the charts.

Nintendo sells plenty in the west, it's not like the rest of the world hates Nintendo or something. It's just Sony has lost a lot of it's appeal in Japan which is why Japan's video games are being dominated by Nintendo.

They've lost thier appeal so much that the PS4 has already outsold the WiiU in Japan and the Vita continues to see an increase in sales!

Yokai Watch stealing some of Pokemon's thunder, huh?

Well, it's all a win for Nintendo, regardless.

Do you have a source? According to the other article PS4 has sold 925,570 so far against WiiU's 2,123,283 which means it hasn't outsold the WiiU yet. And Vita sells okay, but it's never going to catch up to the 3DS I don't think.

I frogot to add for "2014".

http://www.dualshockers.com/2015/01/07/ps4-is-the-best-selling-home-console-of-2014-in-japan-3ds-soundly-beats-ps-vita-full-analysis/

In a year where the Wii U had it's biggest Japanese exclusives(Mario Kart, Smash) it still was outsold by the PS4. Which had what? GTAV and Call of Duty as it's most noteworthy Japanese releases? Yes, Playstation clearly has no appeal. I'm sure that will hold true into 2015 where it will no doubt move past the Wii U.

The Vita will never reach the 3ds. It shouldn't. It's library is pathetic and it's missing the one game that brought the PSP to life(also amazing Sqaure support), but it clearly has a strong foothold in Japan that will no doubt continue to grow.

Either way the point of Sony not having appeal in Japan is clearly wrong.
