This was totally not a show I would have watched on my own but I was at a friend's house one day and watched it. I loved it. I am normally not one for anime comedy (comedy in general really) but this had that weird surreal factor that I love in comedy. I really enjoyed the whole thing.

Also, Shigaraki is totally the hottest guy the show, what you talking about?! =p

Was one of my favourite shows of Fall. Only time it crossed the line somewhat for me was with that pervy tree spirit guy who was just a straight up, unapologetic pederast. Otherwise, as you say, it was slapstick, silly humour with a bunch of otherworldly characters that, with the exception of the alien, hit the mark more often than not.

I totally loved this show, with exception of that pervy tengu and the fact that everyone seemed oblivious of "E.T." And of course the little girl was weird and her appearance annoyed me but Kokkuri kept me entertained, I would definitely watch it again

I really liked this show a hell of a lot more than I thought I would. It was so fun and funny, with great character interactions and a bizarre, surreal touch that I love in comedy. I usually don't like anime humor very much, but that, combined with how dark the humor got at times, kept me hooked. I was never particularly offended by anything that happened in the show, either, so that probably has something to do with it. There was some really heartfelt drama, too. I remember particularly liking the episode with the tree and the spirit of the girl. I'd recommend this show to anyone who enjoys western humor more than Japanese, and isn't easily offended.

Great show overall. Loved it a lot when it aired, and the humor is definitely for those who like it both crazy and straightforward.

I also really enjoyed this show and didn't think I would because I am so picky with anime comedy. Only watched because people were posting cute screencaps on Twitter and I am really glad I gave it a chance. I don't know maybe I would have got tired of it if it was longer but at one cour it didn't overstay it's welcome and when it ended I was even a bit sad.

Will definitely be picking this up when Sentai releases it.

I really liked Kohina in this show. She was hilarious. Kokkuri-san was alright as well. I just got bored with the rest of the cast though. None of them were very funny.

The other connection the show has to "Hozuki's Coolheadedness" is that both are filled with dark humour. It is not just rooted with Japanese horror, while Hozuki was hell as a workplace, Kokkuri-san had a "haunting" creatures have the police called on them after being tricked into exposing himself. The should be scary creature becomes a normal care giver and overworked. It always felt like it knows how to take things a step further to surprise you.

I am disturbed that once again the ANN reviewing staff has this bizarre "PC humor" subtext by which it judges dumb comedy cartoons.

Power dynamics? Seriously? Is it really necessary to try to politicize a silly show about an unfazed girl who lives with genderbending spirits who do all sorts of random hijinks?

I saw this recently on Anime Network. Plenty of WTF Shocked moments but very humorous at the same time.

My favorite anime comedy from last year. A very Japanese premise with Western-styled humor. It's actually easier to recommend to people than one may think.

My friend from Japan even sent me a Kokkuri-san plushie:

...you know I'm honestly shocked to see a word like 'raunchy' used to describe a show like this. 'Delightful', sure, 'weird' yes, 'kooky' I suppose, but 'raunchy'? Shouldnt that be used for fanservicey, sex-humour shows?

I feel like some of the humour in Kokkuri-san was 'adult', but that doesnt make it raunchy. I actually commend it for that. It has a character in one episode who is very clearly a shotacon and frequently talks about liking young boys - but his words are all there is to that, and I feel like another show would have shoehorned in some random shotacon fanservice to 'prove' this. Similarly, Inugami's obsession with Kohina is all words and confined to that alone, when it would have been so easy for way too many anime to insert some dumb fanservice of her to go along with the 'joke'.

So yeah, I found this a real cute little show - not 100% suitable for kids maybe - but definitely not something that 'pushes the envelope' or 'crosses the line' or the other weird things alluded to in this review. Confused

I loved this from beginning to end - and the voice cast are particulalry great, especially Ono Daisuke (Kokkuri-san) who seems to be at his best in comedy. Definitely worth watching again.
