There's nothing like challenging your knowledge with a test focusing on kanji.
I wonder what's the average number of kanji the average person in Japan usually learns in academia? |

The average Japanese student is expected to learn 1,006 kanji (kyōiku kanji) by the end of elementary school. By the end of ninth grade, the average Japanese student is expected to have learned a total of 2,136 kanji (jōyō kanji). For reference, level 2 of the Japan Kanji Aptitude Test tests the ability to read and write all of the jōyō kanji. Level 1 tests over 6,000 kanji. |

It must take plenty of dedication to able to memorize all of the Jōyō kanji, let alone all 6,000+. |

Being Singaporean Chinese, we're "forced" to learn Chinese as our second language from young in schools. Being brought up in an English-speaking family, I absolutely despised the language and I never saw a use for it except to pass exams.
Therefore, fast-forward years later, kanji is still my biggest weakness in Japanese, despite passing my N2 last year. However, because I actually want to learn Japanese, I feel that kanji learning is actually somewhat fun now. So, I guess the moral of the story is - never force your kids to learn something for the sake of learning. Give them a reason or passion to do so. (Well, that was unnecessarily dramatic.) |

That 3d animation was actually really good. I wonder when we'll see a series with that quality... maybe it'll only happen with an original creation.

I was mostly convinced by the look and movement of the hand in the fourth shot. (close up of the girl's hand writing). Generally fingers are drawn more slender and I get a different impression from hand-drawn line strokes. The movement is strangely smooth (if it were hand drawn). It is kinda subtle. It looks like the rendering is assisted by artists to make lines on certain contours such as clothing folds, the inner ear, and the nose. The eyes and mouth are probably not a part of the model in the traditional sense; the facial expressions look like they are a separate entity. The hair is almost indistinguishable, especially since it isn't animated by computer physics. It is a very good illusion and gives an impression of an “anime style” hand drawn look. Strangely the backgrounds look like they were done by hand, the first shot is drawn in 1-point perspective. It is interesting how they put 3d characters onto a 2d background. I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing the animation credits might have some proof. I couldn't read the kanji
