posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

This year's 24th issue of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed on Wednesday that Shinobu Ohtaka's Magi: The Labyrinth of Magic manga has more than 18 million copies in circulation. The manga had 13 million copies in circulation in October 2013.

Ohtaka's manga re-imagines characters from the classic story One Thousand and One Nights (also known as Arabian Nights). Shogakukan published the manga's 25th compiled book volume in Japan on April 17. Viz Media is releasing the manga in North America, and published the 11th compiled book volume on April 14. Aniplex USA licensed both television anime adaptations is releasing the final set of the second season on DVD this month.

Yoshifumi Ōtera is also serializing the Magi: Adventure of Sinbad spinoff manga in Shogakukan's "Ura Sunday" webcomic site. The manga has been adapted into several OVAs bundled with special editions of the manga's compiled book volumes. Shogakukan shipped the manga's sixth compiled book volume on April 17, bundled with the OVA adaptation's fourth episode.

Update: Viz Media released the 11th volume of the manga in North America on April 14. Thanks, Rika.
