Hayate the Combat Butler Manga Ends on April 12

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda

The official website of Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine revealed on Wednesday that Kenjirō Hata's Hayate the Combat Butler (Hayate no Gotoku!) manga will end in the magazine's 20th issue on April 12. The magazine's 15th issue revealed on Wednesday that the manga will end in six chapters.

Hata teased in November that he wants to start a new series this year.

The wraparound jacket band on the 48th compiled volume of Hayate the Combat Butler confirmed in May that the manga's story was approaching its climax. Weekly Shonen Sunday then announced in October that the manga was entering its final arc on November 16.

Hata launched the manga in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday magazine in 2004, and Shogakukan published the manga's 50th volume on February 17. Viz Media published the manga's 29th volume in North America on February 14.

The manga has inspired four television anime seasons in 2007, 2009, 2012, and 2013, as well as a three-episode OVA in 2014. The manga also inspired the Hayate the Combat Butler! Heaven Is a Place on Earth anime film in 2011.

Crunchyroll streamed all four series. Bandai Entertainment licensed the first series and released it on DVD in 2009. Sentai Filmworks licensed all four seasons and the film, and released all of them throughout 2015.
