posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins

Square Enix revealed the Japanese release dates on Saturday for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions of its Dragon Quest X game. The PlayStation 4 version will be available on August 17, and the Nintendo Switch version will be available on September 21.

The game will have physical and digital versions for both consoles, and will cost 4,800 yen (about US$43). Players of the game's Wii version will be able to upgrade to the Switch version for free. The PS4 version will cost 1,500 yen (US$13) per month to play, and the Switch version will cost between 1,000-1,500 yen (US$9-13) per month to play. Both consoles will host a beta test from July 19-August 10.

Square Enix released Dragon Quest X on the Wii and Wii U platforms in March 2013, and on the PC in September 2013. Nintendo has also since released Android and Nintendo 3DS versions of the game.

Dragon Quest XI: Sugisarishi Toki o Motomete (Dragon Quest XI: In Search of Departed Time), the Dragon Quest franchise's latest main game, will ship in Japan for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo 3DS on July 29. A Nintendo Switch version is also reportedly planned.
