Business Insider reported on Monday that Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) announced that it has sold over 1 million PlayStation VRs worldwide.
As of February 27, Sony had sold 915,000 PlayStation VR units, and the system was available in 64 countries and regions.
The PS VR shipped on October 13, 2016. Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios president Shūhei Yoshida had unveiled the headset at the Game Developers Conference (GDC) event in 2014, and Sony revealed the headset's new model at GDC in March 2015.
Sony also reportedly announced that it has sold "almost" 60 million PlayStation 4 systems since the console's release, though the estimated total had already hit 60 million by April according to the company's financial results briefings.
The PlayStation 4 console first launched in the U.S. and Canada in November 2013 and in Japan in February 2014. As part of a promotion from June 9-17, Sony will launch a limited edition gold-colored PlayStation 4 console for US$249.
