Animage+: Show By Rock!! Anime Also Gets 4th Season After 3rd Season in 2020 (Updated)

Animage+, the website of Tokuma Shoten's Animage magazine, briefly reported on Sunday that production on a fourth anime season has also been green-lit for Sanrio's character project Show By Rock!! According to the report, the previous characters of the franchise are slated to appear in the fourth season.
The report is no longer on the Animage+ website, but news aggregators Excite News, livedoor News, and MyNavi News are still hosting their copies of the Animage+ report. The official website for the Show By Rock!! franchise does not list a fourth anime season.
The "Show By Rock!! 3969 Grateful Rock Festival" announced earlier on Sunday that a third anime season, Show By Rock!! Mashumairesh!!, will center on the new band Mashumairesh!!!! The third season will premiere on January 9 (after a December 31 preview airing of the first episode). The event also announced that Square Enix will launch a new smartphone rhythm game, Show By Rock!! Fes A Live, in 2020 with Plasmagica, ShinganCrimsonZ, and Mashumairesh!!!! as the starting band lineup. The Animage+ report covers the third anime season, but not the new smartphone rhythm game.
