Robotech II: The Sentinels may have been scrapped during production, but its storyline continued in comic books by Eternity Comics and novels by Jack McKinney. However, due to various reasons, Robotech II: The Sentinels has been declared "non-canon" to the Robotech continuity by Harmony Gold.
Plot loophole: Invid units such as Scouts and Shock Troopers are biomechanical units that can only be controlled by Invid. In Robotech II: The Sentinels, a humanoid named Rem manages to pilot an abandoned Shock Trooper unit.
This was mark as the origin of the fan dub "Sentinels Curse" which refers to when ever a sequal or revival of the original Robotech series has been proposed, it would either get delayed from being released or get cancel.
