"Chiroptera" is the scientific order for all bats.

Three out of the four Blood+ ED Singles contain covers of western songs. Hajime Chitose's ED1 "Kataritsugu koto" single has a cover of The Beatles' "Happiness Is A Warm Gun." Angela Aki's ED3 "This Love" single has a cover of Seal's "Kiss from a Rose." K's ED4 "Brand New Map" single has a cover of Rod Stewart's "Da Ya Think I'm Sexy?" The odd single out is Nakashima Mika's ED2 "CRY NO MORE" single, which contains no western cover.

In ep39 the classical music which is played from minute 4:25 to minute 5:09 is Joseph Haydns melody "God Save Emperor Francis" and nowadays the melody of Germany's national anthem.

In episode 17, the woman that Saya and Hagi are asking about Grigori has a pet Basset Hound. Placement of basset hounds in anime is the trademark of Mamoru Oshii, planning assistant for the series.

In Episode 32, Kai tries to open the hatch to the air-channel with a 2 euro coin.

In episode 36 there is a sign which parodies iPOD. Time at 7:03. Instead it says iEOX "think different" and the shadow figure.

In episode 41, right after the apartment explosion and before the opening credits, a foreground building sign on the right says, "Bubbee Gumper Shrimp Company," a clear parody of/homage to Bubba Gump Shrimp from the movie Forrest Gump.
