In 2202 The Dark Empire invades Earth. Kazan, Commander of the Black Fleet occupying forces, threatens to destroy human live with a hyperon bomb if the hidden location of Space Battleship Yamato is not revealed. But Kodai and the Yamato's old crew escape to it's hidden location and set course for the Empire's home base, to deactivate the weapon's trigger. They are amazed when Lord Scaldart greets them with the news that they have warped 200 years into the future and back on Earth, conquered by his ancestors at the beginning of their journey. Refusing to accept defeat, the Yamato crew decides to return in time through hyperspace and change history. They are intercepted by an enormous floating fortress and in the midst of a spectacular battle they make another incredible discovery that changes the fate of the world. During the ultimate confrontation, Sasha, the daughter of Queen Starsha of Iscandar and Kodai's brother, makes the same sacrifice her mother did, and for the same noble reason: to save Yamato and Earth.
