Description:
Admiral Okita, presumed dead at the end of Space Battleship Yamato's maiden voyage in 2199, assumes commands of it's final battle in 2203. He replaces Kodai, who survives an attack on the Yamato by the planet Denguil's fortress mother ship Uruku, but resigns his captaincy. With Denguil completely flooded by the water planet Aquarius, General Lugarl plans to warp his fleet to Earth and occupy that world. During a climactic battle with the Uruku, Kodai boards the fortress. In a shootout with Lugarl he is saved bu the general's own son, who intercepts the shot and is killed. Kodai's old friend, Shima, dies in his arms and all remaining Yamato crew members are doomed until another old friend, Dethlar, comes to their rescue and destroys the enemy. Admiral Okita orders his crew to abandon the Yamato and pilots it to Aquarius, which threatens earth with the same diluvian doom. Okita destroys the water planet, and the Yamato, by fusing energy from the Yamato's wave motion gun with tritium, to form a hydrogen bomb. Kodai, Yuki, the crew and Dethlar watch in awe as the Yamato sinks into the sea, returning to the same kind of watery grave from which it was originally rescued. At the end of its final battle, the Yamato dives below the surface with a mighty roar. The sound fades. The turbulence subsides. The sea is calm, The rest is silence.
