New ALL OUT!! Rugby Anime Meets DAYS Soccer Anime in Crossover Art

posted on by Amanda Ellard

Special collaboration art with the main players of popular sports series ALL OUT!! and DAYS will adorn the cover of the September 6 issue of the anime information magazine Ani-An!

Both protagonists joined their rugby and soccer clubs as beginners in their respective series and came to love the sport, giving it their all. They're also both one of the shortest players on their teams, with Kenji Gion at 159 cm (62.6 inches) and Tsukushi Tsukamoto at 156 cm (61.4 inches). ALL OUT!! begins airing on October 6 and DAYS continues broadcasting into the fall season.

Shiori Amase's original ALL OUT!! manga is still ongoing, running in Kodansha's Morning two monthly magazine since 2012, with a total of eight manga volumes published and one drama CD. The anime series is slated for 25 episodes and the official website announced the full cast, visuals, and a teaser video. The story centers around Kenji Gion, a short first-year high school student. On his first day at Kanagawa Prefectural High School, he meets the tall Sumiaki Iwashimizu during a game of rugby. Kenji Gion strikes a friendship with Sumiaki, and soon joins the rugby club. The series portrays the struggles of the mismatched pair.

There will also be a special ALL OUT!! episode one pre-screening and talk event with Shōya Chiba, voice of Kenji Gion, and Yūto Adachi, voice of Sumiaki Iwashimizu, along with other cast members at Cinema Sunshine in Ikebukuro on September 25.

The DAYS anime, scheduled for 24 episodes, began airing on July 3 based off Tsuyoshi Yasuda's manga which is also published by Kodansha in Weekly Shōnen Magazine. The manga won Best Shōnen Manga at the 40th Kodansha Manga Awards earlier this year and is still ongoing with 18 volumes. The series centers on two boys who were never meant to meet: Tsukushi Tsukamoto, who has no special skills but secretly hides a passionate heart, and Jin Kazama, an isolated soccer genius. On a stormy night, the two meet, and that meeting creates a whirlwind in the world of high school soccer.
