Do You Like Your Mom? Light Novel Sells 12,000 Copies in 9 Days

Whether due to its award or unique ad campaign, the light novel Do You Like Your Mom? Her Normal Attack is Two Attacks at Full Power is off to a good start. The debut novel sold over 12,889 copies in nine days since it was released on January 20, according to Oricon's rankings. It's currently ranked at #16.
The story is about a high school boy transported to an RPG-like fantasy world with his mother, who proves to be a highly useful companion.
Animate celebrated the novel's publication by encouraging customers to come shopping for light novels with their moms. Participants received a 16-page short story booklet as a bonus. The store chain wasn't particular about who customers claimed was there mother, accepting both men and hug pillows as stand-ins.
