Light Novel Author Reki Kawahara's Home is Buried in Sword Art Online Merch

Reki Kawahara's Sword Art Online light novel series has enjoyed widespread popularity around the world. As such, the franchise has released a lot of related merchandise. Have you ever wondered if creators receive and keep items inspired by their works? Kawahara, at least, has apparently accumulated quite a lot. He posted pictures on Twitter on Saturday to show some of his collection.
The above pictures show goods Kawahara recently organized after receiving them over the period of about one year. At least half of the merchandise was made outside Japan. He admitted that finding places to put things has become difficult, and he does want to do something about that. However, he said it would be hard for him to part with the items.
The creator also specifically showed off a rubber keychain and a compiled book of cosplayer photographs (seen above) from overseas. In addition, he mentioned that he has a lot of jigsaw puzzles.
Kawahara's Sword Art Online novels have sold more than 20 million copies worldwide. The series' first volume, which debuted in 2009, has itself sold more than one million copies. The 19th compiled book volume shipped on February 10.
Sword Art Online has two television anime adaptations, an anime special, and an anime film. It has also inspired multiple manga series, games, and a virtual reality demonstration in Japan.
Yen Press publishes the Sword Art Online and Sword Art Online: Progressive novel series and their manga adaptations in North America. Aniplex of America releases the anime. Skydance Television is planning a live-action television series based on the novels.
