Mitsuru Adachi Identifies His Own Characters With 76% Accuracy

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Veteran manga artist Mitsuru Adachi has created some of the most beloved sports manga, including Touch and Cross Game and his current Touch spin-off Mix. His manga are also well known for featuring near-identical characters that even Adachi himself can't always tell apart.

Think you're better than the creator? Publisher Shogakukan's Sunday Web site has a quiz to prove it. The questionnaire has characters from 13 of Adachi's manga. Of course, he tried his identification skills and managed to correctly get 76 out of a possible 100 points. He added that anyone that scores above 76 needs to have their scores re-examined and recommended they make sure to go to bed early, get up early, and eat more vegetables.

Touch was originally serialized in Japan's Weekly Shonen Sunday from 1981 to 1986. In 1983, it received the Shogakukan Manga Award for shōnen or shōjo manga alongside Adachi's Miyuki. It was adapted into a television anime in 1985. His current series is Mix, one of this year's top-selling manga.
