VR Light Novel Innocent Forest Reveals 2nd Installment

The staff of the virtual-reality light novel FullDive novel: Innocent Forest announced the project's second installment on Friday. Innocent Forest ~Sora no Nedai~ (Innocent Forest: Sky Bed) will launch in mid-September. MyDearest began streaming a promotional video for the VR experience on Friday.

The fantasy VR novel's story centers on the mysterious girl Rukurei and the memories of her visitor. The doctor Hauser (voiced by Yūsuke Kobayashi) moves to a certain town. As he is strolling through the town, he finds himself walking into a forest. A sudden downpour starts, and Rukurei (voiced by Rina Hidaka) invites him into her home.

Rukurei catches a cold from walking in the rain. The doctor remembers another girl whom he couldn't save, and he worries about Rukurei. While caring for Rukurei, the doctor's memories of a girl who lost her hair return.

The original Innocent Forest VR novel also debuted in Internet cafes that support the Virtual Gate VR content platform throughout Japan on Friday. MyDearest collaborated with the Oculus Store and Virtual Gate to release the VR light novel. The VR novel debuted at the Anime Expo convention's "Nihon Chara VR Matsuri ~Japan Character VR~" event in July. MyDearest began streaming a trailer for the first VR novel in June.

The VR novels are part of a series of "FullDive novels." The VR novel's official website includes English text that reads, "It is the story of the girl to collect the memories in the birdcages. In the forest of forgetting, you will lose the memories. The bird carries the memories to the forest." The website also describes the experience in English:

You are the protagonist in a forest of memories

In this forest, people lose one of their memories...
Visiting on a rumor, he encounters a girl at a forest mansion.
Memories turn themselves into birds
...and take off from the cages of people's hearts.

Why does he want to forget? Why does he want to remember?
This is a story revolving around the memories of a girl and various visitors.

Hidaka (Sword Art Online's Silica, Accel World's Yuniko Kōzuki) is voicing Rukurei, Yūsuke Kobayashi (The Heroic Legend of Arslan's Arslan, Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-'s Subaru Natsuki) is voicing Kei, and Mayu Yoshioka (Wake Up, Girls!'s Mayu Shimada, Hundred's Sakura Kirishima) is voicing Passe in the experience. A release for Daydream is also planned. The experience is available in Japanese and English, and a Chinese release is planned.
