March comes in like a lion Creator Draws IT's Pennywise

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

When Chica Umino isn't drawing poignant, heart-wrenching tales of post-adolescent love, apparently she's doodling killer clowns in sewers. The creator of March comes in like a lion and Honey and Clover drew Pennywise the Clown and little Georgie from Hollywood film adaptation of Stephen King's IT.

She drew a series of promotional artwork for the film's Japanese opening, commenting, "I was so scared so bad, but after I finished watching it I remembered I had a nostalgic feeling that kept flowing underneath the film the entire time..."

IT/“Sore” ga mietara, owari. (IT/If you see "It", it's the end.) was directed by Andrés Muschietti and opened in Japan on November 3 and opened in the U.S. on September 3. The film follow's the first half of Stephen King's 1,138 page book about a group of misfit kids battling both seen and unseen horrors in the small town of Derry. A sequel film was announced for theatrical release in 2019.
