Enjoy Nature's Small Wonders at the Hakumei & Mikochi Botanical Garden Tour

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

The tiny fairies of Takuto Kashiki's Hakumei and Mikochi manga and anime series are leading the way for a nature walk at Jindai Botanical Garden in Chōfu, Tokyo. Starting on April 21, the botanical gardens will host a Hakumei and Mikochi corner display of scenes from the anime series and plants growing within the park.

Each weekend, staff will hold a quiz rally to win postcards. The "Tokyo Parks Play" app is also offering a themed digital photo frame of the fairies, so visitors can snap selfies with Hakumei and Mikochi while at the park. The photos can be used to enter a lottery campaign to win original merchandise.

The special event will run until May 31. The anime was also the subject of two cafes in Akihabara in February.

Sentai Filmworks streamed the anime, and it describes the story:

While Hakumei is cheerful, outgoing and prefers to be outside, Mikochi is more introverted and prefers to stay indoors. These differences will set the tone for their friendship. Riding on insects and birds, creating tools from the forest and living their normal lives, they'll show us how day to day chores can be the biggest adventure in a small world full of wonders.

The anime premiered in Japan on AT-X on January 12. The Japanese home video release will include a new original video anime (OVA) "Neji to Bed to Irori to Bakuchi" (Screws, Beds, Fireplaces, and Gambling). The OVA will be about 24 minutes long.
