Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits Conference

Third year of Minneapolis College of Art and Design conference on Anime

The Minneapolis College of Art and Design will be hosting a third year of their "Schoolgirls and Mobilesuits" conference, September 26-28, 2003. Subtitled "Culture and Creation in Manga and Anime," the speakers at the conference this year are:

C.B. Cebulski, Associate Editor at Marvel Comics;
Dr. Christopher Bolton, Professor of Asian Studies at Williams College;
Dr. Marc Hairston, Center for Space Sciences, University of Texas at Dallas;
Theresa M. Winge, Instructor in Design, Housing and Apparel at Univ. of Minnesota;
Brian Ruh, Editor/Webmaster of AnimeResearch.com;
Alvin Lee, Chief of Operations of the artists' collective UDON;
Arnold Tsang Erik Ko, Art Director of the artists' collective UDON.

In addition to the speakers there will be a cosplay ball featuring the band All the Pretty Horses, anime screenings, manga/anime demos, and an exhibition of Japanese ephemera.

Registration for the three day conference is $105 or $665 to receive one undergraduate credit.
