Raijin Comics publication suspended

posted on by Jonathan Mays
Japanese version of all-English manga magazine to halt after September issue

Raijin Comics, the all-English manga magazine published by Shinchosha, will suspend publications following the September 5, 2003 issue. No reason for the suspension has been announced.

Known for serializing popular Japanese manga like City Hunter, Fist of the North Star, and Baki The Grappler, Raijin has been a pioneer in the manga industry in Japan and the US. Domestically, Rajin introduced manga anthologies to the North American market, and in Japan, their business model and reliance on subscription sales set a new precedent for the industry.

No announcements regarding the sister publications of Raijin Comics, Raijin Comics USA and its Japanese counterpart, Comics Bunch, have been made. However, a North American employee of Gutsoon has informed ANN that Raijin Comics USA will continue.
