Tai Seng Releases the Condor Hero

posted on by Christopher Macdonald
Tai Seng releasing Japanese / Hong Kong co-produced adaptation of Chinese Epic, to follow with more animated titles.

Tai Seng, well known for its releases of asian cinema, has announced the release of the animated version of Legend of the Condor Hero. Based on the epic chinese series of the same name, the 26 episode TV series was co-produced by Nippon Animation (Japan) and Jade Animation (Hong Kong), and aired on BS Fuji (also credited with production) in Japan in 2001.

Legend of the Condor Heroes was originally written by Louis Cha or Jinyong as a series of 3 novels in the late 1950s. The series was later adpated to a 18 volume comic series by artist Wee Tian Beng, and was aired as a TV series in 2003. Wong Kar Wai's Ashes of time is also a very liberal adaptation of the original novel.

The first of seven volumes in Tai Seng's English Dubbed (with chinese and subtitles) was released in North America on October 19th for 19.95. Volume 2 will be available on December 14th.

This is Tai Seng's first anime release, but they have informed us that they plan to license and release more animated shows. Tai Seng will not be focusing exclusively on anime however, they are looking at breaking into the market with Chinese titles as well as Chinese / Japanese co-productions. Two other titles that Tai Seng will be releasing in North America will be the animated adaptation of Master Q and the animated adptation of Butterfly Lovers.
