Japanese companies Unite for Film/Anime/Game Festival

Nobuyoshi Otani, chairman of film production company Shochiku, unveiled plans for a new annual festival to promote Japanese film, anime and videogames to markets around the world. In 2007, this festival will be held from September 19 to October 28, uniting the Tokyo Game Show, the 20th Tokyo Interntional Film Festival, a dedicated international animation event and an international entertainment business conference under a common name and logo. In future years, the length of the festival will be shortened and its component events will take place over the course of two weeks. The festival is being organized by a committee of representatives from several major industry associations and companies, such as Shochiku, Square Enix, and the Association of Japanese Animators.
