posted on by Mikhail Koulikov
Makoto Shinkai's latest film beats animated movies from Japan and China to win award at first annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards.

The honor for Best Animated Feature Film at the first annual Asia Pacific Screen Awards has gone to Makoto Shinkai's 5 Centimeters Per Second. It beat out the anime film Summer Days with Coo and China's The Big Fighting Between Wukong and God Erlang, and was the only Japanese winner of this year's competition.

Shinkai was not present to accept the award himself, instead it was accepted by Noritaka Kawaguchi of CoMix Wave.

The Asia Pacific Screen Awards are sponsored jointly by CNN International, UNESCO, the International Federation of Film Producers Associations, and the State Government of Queensland, Australia. The award ceremony, along with profiles of all of the winning films, will be shown on CNN International on November 17.
