Music set to animation at London Anime Con

posted on by Andrew Osmond
Unshin group present their music-anime concept album at Con in July

Music will be set to purpose-made anime at the London Anime Con at the end of July. The music will be by the group Unshin (website here), fronted by the Japanese singer Megumi Miyoshi. The animation will be supplied by Mai Yoshida, a Japanese graduate of London's Royal College of Art; her webpage is here.

Unshin and Yoshida have collaborated on a concept album, "Waltz for Broken Dolls," about a girl growing up under the pressures of Japanese society, who finds herself as an individual. Each track advances the story, and is set to a different animated short by Yoshida, projected above the band. The album, to be released in July, will have thirteen tracks in total. According to the press release:

Each track has been written specifically to fit the story rather than a genre of music. This has created a completely unique sounding album that has drawn upon and fused many different styles of music.

In addition to their appearance (announced here) at London Anime Con, Unshin will tour the UK from June to November.
