Beyond Anime London Screening on April 3

Beyond Anime, a collection of innovative independent Japanese animation, will be screened at London's Roxy Bar and Screen on April 3 to raise money for earthquake relief. The screening will take place at 1800; venue details here (scroll down for a map). The closest stations are London Bridge and Borough Tube.
Previously screened at last year's Zipangu festival, Beyond Anime is an 85-minute program of thirteen short films, showcasing Japanese animators who use innovative and varied techniques. The films were brought together by the label CALF Animation, which aims 'to give a stage to some of the country's most innovative and exciting practitioners.'
In collaboration with the Play for Japan project, Zipangu will be doing a special London re-screening of the awesome CALF Animation programme. This selection of innovative and uplifting shorts from the minds of young award-winning animators Atsushi Wada, Mirai Mizue, Kei Ōyama and TOCHKA (Takeshi Nagata and Kazue Monno) will redefine our notions of Japanese animation as it is currently perceived in popular culture. In the space of 13 bite-sized delights, CALF will have you on the edge of your seat and asking for more. You won't be disappointed! We'll be accepting donations as admission, and all admissions proceeds will go to the Japan Society Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.
