Japanese Box Office, July 23-24

This year's Pokémon anime film project stayed at #2 in its second weekend; two feature-length Pokémon anime films with separate admission tickets opened on July 16, but they are being counted as one. Combined, Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Kuroki Eiyū Zekrom and Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Shiroki Eiyū Reshiram films earned the equivalent of US$3,472,782 on 351 screens for a grand total of US$16,559,204.

Kokuriko-Zaka Kara, Goro Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's anime adaptation of Chizuru Takahashi and Tetsurō Sayama's shōjo coming-of-age manga, also stayed at #3 with US$3,246,508 on 457 screens for a new total of US$14,242,382. If this year's two Pokémon films were counted separately, Kokuriko-Zaka Kara would have ranked above both of them instead of ranking #3.

Ninja Kids!!!, Takashi Miike's live-action film adaptation of Soubee Amako's Rakudai Ninja Rantarō/Nintama Rantaro manga and anime, opened at #4. It earned US$1,060,634 on 218 screens.

Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos, the second anime film inspired by Hiromu Arakawa's Fullmetal Alchemist manga, dropped from #7 to #10 in its fourth weekend on Kogyo Tsushinsha's box office chart, while it dropped from #7 to #9 on Box Office Mojo's chart. It earned US$323,089 on 90 screens for a total-to-date of US$5,929,403.

Soreike! Anpanman: Sukue! Kokorin to Kiseki no Hoshi stayed at #11 in its fourth weekend. It took in US$233,896 on 132 screens for a gross-to-date of US$2,554,977.

Paradise Kiss and Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199-Hero Daikessen are no longer listed in either chart.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 from Warner Brothers and director David Yates remained as the #1 film in Japan for a second weekend.
