Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths, 20th Century Boys Get Eisner Nods

The 2012 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards panel of judges has announced its nominees for the best works in the comic book industry on Wednesday. Shigeru Mizuki's Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths has been nominated for the Best Reality-Based Work award, alongside Matt Phelan's Around the World, Jeff Jensen and Jonathan Case's Green River Killer: A True Detective Story, Marzena Sowa and Sylvain Savoia's Marzi: A Memoir, and GB Tran's Vietnamerica.

Naoki Urasawa's 20th Century Boys has been nominated for the Best Continuing Series award alongside Stan Sakai's Usagi Yojimbo, Brian Michael Bendis and Sara Pichelli's Ultimate Comics Spider-Man, Terry Moore's Rachel Rising, and Mark Waid, Marcos Martin, Paolo Rivera, and Joe Rivera's Daredevil. The manga was also nominated in the same category in 2010 and 2011.

20th Century Boys won the award for Best U.S. Edition of International Material - Asia last year.

The results in all categories will be announced in a gala awards ceremony on the evening of Friday, July 13 at Comic-Con International in San Diego.
