Gurren Lagann Staff Streams Kill la Kill Anime's 30-Second Ad

Battling schoolgirls, talking sailor uniform of power, more in Trigger's 1st show

The official website for Hiroyuki Imaishi and Trigger's battle action anime Kill la Kill began streaming the 30-second version of the third commercial on Saturday. The ad features the opening theme song "Sirius" by Eir Aoi and narration by a talking sailor uniform.

The ad introduces the wandering transfer student Ryūko Matoi (voiced by Ami Koshimizu) and the student council president Satsuki Kiryūin (Ryōka Yuzuki). The story is set on a high school that Satsuki rules by force. Wielding a giant Basami scissors sword, Ryūko brings about upheaval on the campus:

The freedom that is fear
The liberation that is control
The truth that is contradiction

Ryūko searches for her father's enemy, and confronting her are the "four divine kings" on campus:

Public Morals Club committee chair Ira Gamagōri

Exercise Club control committee chair Uzu Sanageyama

Culture Club control committee chair Nonon Jakuzure

Intelligence Strategy Club committee chair Hōka Inumuta

However, Ryūko is aided by a mysterious talking sailor uniform who tells her, "Wear me. When I am worn by you, this power will become manifest."

The other characters include:

Second-year student Mako Mankanshoku

Mysterious young man Aikurō Mikisugi

The October anime reunites several production staff members from Gurren Lagann: director Hiroyuki Imaishi, series script supervisor/writer Kazuki Nakashima, character designer Sushio (key animator/animation director on Gurren Lagann), and the animation studio Trigger (co-founded by several former Gurren Lagann staffers).

The ad ends with the tagline, "Will you kill? Or will you be killed?"

Thanks to Woun Thisworld and Vito Plahuta for the news tips.
