Miyazaki's final animated film will screen during the November 7-14 festival

Disney's Touchstone Pictures will screen Hayao Miyazaki and Studio Ghibli's anime film The Wind Rises in Los Angeles as part of the American Film Institute's Festival on November 8 and 9. The Wind Rises is Miyazaki's 11th and final feature film.

The story centers on Jirō Horikoshi (played by Evangelion director Hideaki Anno), the designer of Japan's famed Mitsubishi A6M Zero fighter plane of World War II. Disney will release the film in North America, and Studio Ghibli International announced that it will produce the English-language dub with producer Frank Marshall (From Up On Poppy Hill, The Secret World of Arrietty, Ponyo).

The film screened at the Venice International Film Festival on September 1-2, the Toronto International Film Festival from September 11 to September 15, and the 51st New York Film Festival from September 27 and October 13. It will screen for one week at the Landmark Theater in Los Angeles starting on November 8.

AFI will also screen Hirokazu Kore-eda's Like Father, Like Son, Hitoshi Matsumoto's R100, and Nicolas Provost's Tokyo Giants. The AFI Fest will take place from November 7-14.
